Virtual On-Site Operations Coordination Centre (VOSOCC) and On-Site Operations Coordination Centre (OSOCC)
This section contains the manuals which outline the methodology on the On-Site Operations Coordination Centre and its virtual counterpart.
The OSOCC is both a methodology and physical location for onsite emergency response and coordination. The OSOCC is designed to work in support of the affected country and is a tool promoted and supported by the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (UNOCHA) to carry out its mandate of coordination and information management in emergency response and coordination, particularly at the field level.
The VOSOCC is a real-time online coordination platform that allows for information exchange early in an emergency. It is a component of the Global Disaster and Coordination System (GDACS), a cooperative framework that provides near real-time alerts and information (e.g. impact assessment, satellite imagery analysis) on natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes.
