ASIA/PACIFIC REGIONAL GROUP MEETING 2002

The annual meeting of the INSARAG Asia/Pacific Regional Group was held in Shanghai, China from 11 to 13 November 2002.

Representatives from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea (Republic of), Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Viet Nam attended as participants. Representatives of the Asian Disaster Reduction Centre in Kobe, Japan and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre in Bangkok, Thailand attended as observers.

Practical Guide for INSARAG policy and operational focal points (English, Spanish)

The purpose of this Guide is to complement the Terms of Reference of INSARAG policy and operational focal points as laid down in the INSARAG Guidelines in its Volume I: Policy, Annex A. The present document provides additional guidance, based on the actual experience and good practices of focal points on the way to implement their functions.

  • The template was first created and presented to the Regional Group in 2014, then tested in 2015 and finalised by the Regional Chairmanship Group in 2016. It is expected that countries complete the format and share it in case of emergency requiring the deployment of international USAR teams through the Virtual OSOCC .

This is a capacity assessment carried out by the INSARAG Americas Regional Group of the capacity of national USAR teams in the region. The data collection process was carried out in 2013 and the processing and analysis finalised in 2014. It was carried out by the Regional Chairmanship Group through the INSARAG focal points of countries.
